Meneo 2021
Vino de paraje
DO Bierzo
To reach our dreams, it is not enough to move forward; sometimes we must unlearn, get lost… and find ourselves again. We must move, go beyond.
A straight path… or a winding trail? Meneo is born from restlessness and calm. It is the movement that transforms us and reminds us that moving forward is not only about arriving… but about falling and getting back up again.
The vineyard
Located in the El Vallinón area, in Orbanajo, Villa de Ponferrada. Set on slate soils, it has been tended by a family that has preserved its essence with patience and dedication.
At 120 years old, this old vineyard maintains a genuine and honest character, the result of its origin and the constant effort to keep it intact. Mencía coexists with vines of Doña Blanca, Garnacha Tintorera, Godello, and other still unidentified varieties, a faithful reflection of traditional viticulture.
Situated at 620 meters above sea level and facing north, allowing for a slow, unhurried ripening, Rogelio’s vineyard embodies the continuity of a landscape and a way of understanding the vineyard, closely tied to time and care.
Cycle and 2021 harvest
A fresh vintage, marked by generous rainfall during winter and spring. There were occasional hail episodes, with no damage. The rains during harvest significantly influenced the development of ripening, which was even later than usual.
Winemaking
Harvesting is done by hand, with careful grape selection. Fermentation is carried out by gravity after destemming, preserving the integrity of the fruit.
During fermentation, gentle daily punch-downs are performed, seeking a delicate and respectful extraction.
Aging lasts one year in oak barrels.
